Indian Railways has approved the new class of rail tracks developed by Jindal Steel and Power Limited (JSPL). The company has developed a new grade of rail track for fast speed and high-speed load applications.
On Tuesday, JSPL claimed that it is the first manufacturer who successfully developed 60 E1 1175 heat treated rail tracks.
This rail track is suited for high speed and high-load load applications. This new category of rail tracks developed by JSPL is approved by Research Design and Standards Organization (RDSO), which works under the Railway Board.
== Country will become self-sufficient in rail
The company said that Indian Railways is adapting its track system to a high excel load at speeds of 200 kmph. Railways will need 18 lakh tonnes of 60E1175 rail per annum.
JSPL Managing Director VR Sharma said that earlier all the special types of rail tracks were imported into the country. They are committed to meet the special rail needs of Railways and Metro Rail Corporation. With this, the country will be able to become self-sufficient in the railways of various applications at the local level.
“This rail track will be used in high axle load application including dedicated haulage corridor, bullet train”, said by Sharma.
